Who we are

The journey …

Sneha Foundation  is a registered non-profit that was officially started by Hema Helal in 2007 with one mission: to support underprivileged women & children in Bangladesh through various programs.

One of Sneha’s key initiatives was to build the Children’s Eco-Village, where 30 orphaned / abandoned children can grow up safely in a home environment - in harmony and respecting nature.

The Children’s Home comprises several cottages that are entirely constructed with local material: bamboo, wood, and mud. The result is extraordinary.

Educators and caregivers take a holistic approach to each child’s practical, intellectual and artistic development. The role of play and imagination in learning is paramount. Our mission is to raise our children with independent thinking so they can embrace life with force and respond to the needs of the world and it’s peers with initiative and creativity.

Construction of the Children’s Home began in 2012; now ready to shelter 30 children. It’s been a long way since then. Hema and her husband Towfiq have taken this initiative as their life’s work and continue to volunteer their service in raising them hands-on.

Who Supports Sneha

As a registered non-profit, Sneha Foundation does not have any local or foreign corporate sponsorship. It is an initiative that runs with the support of family and friends, home and abroad. If this sounds like a project that is in alignment with your intention, we welcome you to participate in the journey. This is a huge undertaking and we appreciate every bit of support that we get.
